Title III services, funded through the Older Americans Act (OAA)
Title III services, funded through the Older Americans Act (OAA), provide a range of support for older adults, including nutrition, health promotion, and caregiver support, aiming to help them remain independent and healthy.
Supportive Services:

Personal Care:
Provides assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and toileting.

Chore Services:
Helps with household tasks like cleaning and yard work.

Transportation:
Provides transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, and other essential destinations.

Legal Assistance:
Provides legal services to older adults, including advice on elder rights and benefits.

Case Management:
Helps older adults navigate the complex system of services and supports available to them.

Senior Centers:
Provides a place for older adults to socialize, participate in activities, and access services.
Nutrition Services:

Congregate Nutrition:
Provides meals at group sites like senior centers to promote socialization and address hunger and food insecurity.

Home-Delivered Nutrition:
Delivers meals to those who are homebound or isolated, ensuring access to nutritious meals.
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention:

Personal Care:
Provides assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and toileting.

Chore Services:
Helps with household tasks like cleaning and yard work.

Transportation:
Provides transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, and other essential destinations.
Family Caregiver Support:
National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP): Offers respite care, caregiver training, information and referral assistance, and counseling to support family caregivers of older adults.
- Low-income and minority older adults.
- Older adults with limited English proficiency.
- Older adults living in rural areas.
- Caregivers of older adults.
How it Works:
- States receive funding from the federal government under the OAA and are responsible for allocating funds to area agencies on aging (AAAs).
- AAAs then contract with service providers to deliver services to older adults in their service areas.
- ACL encourages collaboration between Title III grantees and Title VI grantees (tribal organizations) to ensure services are culturally appropriate and accessible to all.

- PSA 3 serves Chaves, Curry, DeBaca, Eddy, Guadalupe, Harding, Lea, Lincoln, Quay, Roosevelt, and Union counties.
- PSA 4 serves Catron, Doña Ana, Grant, Hidalgo, Luna, Otero, Sierra, and Socorro counties.

Eligibility? What services are available?
To be eligible for Older Americans Act (OAA) Title III services, individuals must be at least 60 years old, and there are no financial criteria to meet.
Age Requirement:
The primary eligibility requirement for OAA Title III services is age; individuals must be 60 years of age or older.
No Financial Criteria:
Unlike some other programs, there are no income or asset limitations for receiving OAA Title III services.
Types of Services:
Title III funding covers a variety of services, including:
- Nutrition Services: Congregate Meals and Home-Delivered Meals.
- Supportive Services: Information and Referral, Case Management, In-Home Care, Home Repairs, Transportation, Adult
- Day Care, and Chore Services.
