Support Aging and Long-Term Services Department by advocating for our budget! The Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD) plays a critical role in meeting the needs of aging adults and adults with disabilities across New Mexico through:

  • Preventing and investigating adult abuse, neglect and fraud through Adult Protective Services
  • Providing senior center meals, home-delivered meals, transportation coordination, respite care, and case management services and support
  • Emergency Funding to ensure disaster preparedness and urgent supplemental programmatic needs are met
  • Public education and outreach to adults in New Mexico on how to access critical services and programs

These services and programs protect vulnerable adults and promote independence and living with dignity. They are lifelines that allow our seniors to remain active, connected, and cared for within their communities.  We respectfully urge the Legislature to recognize the vital importance of these services by increasing the current funding allocated to the Aging and Long-Term Services Department due to an accelerating increase in New Mexico’s aging population which is creating a greater demand for services, programs and support across New Mexico communities. Contact your legislator and ask for their support!

About Us

Hosted by the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department, Senior Day at the Legislature is a vital annual event that highlights the importance of seniors in shaping the future of our state. Held at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe on January 23, this event brings together older adults, advocates, caregivers, policymakers, and community organizations to celebrate the contributions of older adults, while addressing critical issues impacting their well-being.

Senior Day at the Legislature provides a unique opportunity to:

  • Advocate for policies that support New Mexico’s aging population.
  • Connect citizens with valuable resources and services.
  • Promote community engagement and empower older adults to share their voices.

The day will feature opportunities to meet with legislators, engage in meaningful conversations about senior care and support, and connect with organizations dedicated to improving the lives of older adults across the state. Your sponsorship will help us make Senior Day at the Legislature a success.
